...with a software installation?

Yeah, there's a software development kit in the works that changes a 2D video game to 3D for every system except a Wii. READ

All that mumbo-jumbo is beyond my current level of comprehension in this realm of technology. But fear not, Engadget knows little more about this than we do.  Cheesy

its like having a 3D iMax screen, but not as grand. i want to see software than can takeolder games and make them more modern. though i suppose thats asking the impossible or near impossible. oh man how i would love a remake of the parasite eve series....

First thing I noticed (from the picture) is that the 3D glasses are red/green, like the old comic books. Now maybe its just me but they never really looked all that great to me. Second thing to note is the "blurry" screen in the background with the a visible red/green hue to it. (maybe its just the picture)

I wonder how the picture really looks, i know they say it looks fine, but its also a demo and there have been plenty of demos that never held their promises.

I think that's common to all passive technologies. Maybe it's like.....chromatic separation  for each eye in order to render the 3D effect. Actually, here.

Well keeping with the trend, i ran across this today.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lme215AmXAL/p_30546C7000/Samsung-UN46C7000.html

Its a 3D tv from samsung, that takes a regular 2D broadcast and ... deepens it? What is the correct term here, someone enlighten me.
It is also 3D-ready for 3D blu-ray.

The setback I see is the price. For a 48" tv the $3k mark isn't too far off, but each pair of glasses can run up to $200!

Indeed, that's a nice TV with the 1.4 HDMI spec.

I recently got a huge TV and I didn't even know it was 3D-ready. I had no intention of jumping on the 3D bandwagon just yet, I just wanted a huge and nice TV. But I did some digging and found that it can do 3D, but since it only has HDMI 1.3, it can only render 3D at 1080i and not p.

Oh well. I've heard you really can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p at enough distance, and the TV is 65" so I'll be sitting far enough away.

God, I can't wait to see Avatar at a 3D IMAX!
